    Description

    A funky old coffee cup and saucer from Swiss Chalet.
    This restaurant china is from the Canadian-based rotisserie chicken chain, Swiss Chalet, famous for rotisserie
    chicken, and still in operation in Canada, today.  Several locations opened in and around Buffalo, New York, but
    eventually closed.  You can find a history of the Swiss Chalet chain on the
    buffalonews
    and
    tayloronhistory
    websites.
    Manufacturer
    : Duraline (England)
    This particular set of china was probably used at one of the Canadian locations because much of Canadian restaurant china is/was sourced from England.
    Condition
    :
    Very good.  Hardly any wear. Clean.  No chips, cracks, or crazing.  I can see one fine scratch on the front.
    Measures approximately:
    CUP = 3-1/2 inches diameter x 2-1/2 inches tall
    SAUCER = 5-7/8 inches diameter
    Bottoms are marked:
    Duraline
    Hotel Ware
    Made in England
    Cassidy's
    NOTE
    : Cassidy's was a restaurant china distributor in Canada.
    Date of this restaurant logo:
    Swiss Chalet's logo has changed over time.  From what I can find, this china is most likely from the 1970s and possibly into the early 1980s.  YouTube has several vintage TV commercials from the 1970s-1990s that feature this china pattern. In a 1990 TV
    commercial, you can see the lettering (fonts) have changed to a more gothic style, but with the same floral decoration. The style of lettering found on my item is likely 1970s or earlier as it can be found on older matchbooks and restaurant ads/menus.  One image I've included is from a 1979 TV commercial and shows the earlier lettering style on the store's street sign.
